Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This website is operated by B. F. Adams, an individual writer based in North Carolina. It is not operated under any business entity.
What this site is
bfadams.blog is a personal writing blog. Its purpose is to share ideas and build a readership. There is no advertising, no sponsored content, no affiliate links, and no commercial exchange of any kind. Registered users gain the ability to comment on posts — nothing more.
What we collect and why
Server logs This site is hosted by Hostinger. As with any web server, Hostinger automatically records standard access logs — IP addresses, browser types, pages requested, and timestamps. These logs are used for security and operational purposes and are not accessed for marketing or tracking. Hostinger’s privacy policy governs how they handle this data.
Analytics This site uses Independent Analytics, a privacy-focused WordPress plugin. It tracks page views, session counts, and referral sources to help understand which content is useful. Independent Analytics stores all data locally on this server. It uses no cookies, sends no data to external servers, and stores no personal information. A one-way hashed identifier is used to recognize repeat visits — this hash cannot be reversed to identify any individual.
Comments When you leave a comment, WordPress collects your name, email address, and the content of your comment. Your IP address and browser string are also recorded for spam detection purposes. Your email address is never displayed publicly. If you opt in to saving your details in a cookie, that cookie lasts one year.
An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you have a profile image. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
Account registration Registered users provide a username and email address. This information is stored in the WordPress database and used only to authenticate your account and associate your comments with your name. No payment information, no demographic data, and no profile data beyond what you voluntarily provide is collected.
Login cookies When you log in, WordPress sets cookies to maintain your session. Login cookies last two days. If you select “Remember Me,” they persist for two weeks. These cookies are removed when you log out.
Third-party services
Akismet (spam protection) This site uses Akismet, a spam filtering service operated by Automattic. When a comment is submitted, Akismet receives the comment content, the commenter’s name, email address, IP address, and browser user agent string. This data is sent to Akismet’s external servers for analysis against a global spam database. Akismet retains spam-related data for between two weeks and ninety days, after which it is automatically deleted. Akismet does not sell this data. Their privacy policy is available at akismet.com/privacy.
Wordfence (security) This site uses Wordfence, a security plugin operated by Defiant, Inc. Wordfence provides firewall protection, malware scanning, and brute force attack prevention. As part of its real-time threat intelligence features, Wordfence may transmit visitor IP addresses to Defiant’s servers to cross-reference against known threat sources. This data is used solely for security purposes. Wordfence also sets security cookies for logged-in users to assist with firewall decisions — these cookies are not used for tracking or advertising. Defiant’s privacy policy is available at wordfence.com/privacy-policy.
What we do not collect
- No payment or financial information of any kind
- No location data
- No device fingerprinting
- No behavioral tracking across other sites
- No data collected through social media integrations (there are none)
- No data collected through advertising (there is none, and there will be none)
Who we share your data with
Outside of Akismet and Wordfence as described above, no data collected on this site is shared with any third party for any purpose. It is not sold, traded, licensed, or transferred.
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email WordPress generates — this is a WordPress default behavior.
External links in posts point to other websites. Those sites operate under their own privacy policies and this policy has no bearing on them.
How long we keep your data
Comments and their associated metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments from the same person can be recognized without holding them in a moderation queue. If you want your comments removed, use the contact page.
Account information is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
Analytics data is aggregated and contains no personal information. It is retained for up to three years.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data held about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for cookie storage at any time by clearing your browser cookies
To make any of these requests, use the contact page at bfadams.blog/contact-us. Requests will be acknowledged within a reasonable time.
A note on children
While all content on this site is appropriate for any age, some posts engage with spiritual themes that may be considered challenging for some readers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, the “Last updated” date above will reflect that. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
